Geiranger is actually a small village with a population of only 250 people! Surrounded by beautiful mountains and waterfalls, this has to be one of the most amazing landscapes I have ever seen.
Waking up in my cruise stateroom and looking out the balcony, I saw the most spectacular site of mountains and waterfall.

There are different ways to see and spend time in this beautiful little village.
I started the day with a tour, so I could see as much of the surrounding area as possible.
I reserved a tour with Viator - Geiranger Shore Excursion: Mt. Dalsnibba and Eagle Road
VIATOR offers a "Worry-Free Shore Excursion"
This means Viator guarantees if there is a problem that gets you back to the ship late, they will get you to the next port. This is the same guarantee that cruise lines offer when you book through them.
This is a great option, because there are many times that you can reserve an excursion through Viator for a lower cost than doing it with the cruise line.
They all use the same tour operators and itineraries, so in the end, it is up to you and whatever makes you feel comfortable.
The bus picked us up at the cruise port, so it was very easy. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the area and gave some fun facts as we went along through the day.
Our stops consisted of Flydalsjuvet, Geiranger Skywalk - Dalsnibba, Djupvasshytta, and Ørnesvingen Viewpoint.
Breathtaking mountain tops and spectacular views! There are truly no words I can use to give justice to the beauty of nature, so I have photos that I took during this tour. Truly pictures can't even do the full justice of the deep blues of the water, and many colors of the mountain sides. However, until you go and see this with your own eyes, the pictures are the next best thing. :)

After the tour dropped us back off at the cruise port, there is plenty of time to walk around and experience the village. There is a campground with options of tents, motorhomes, and cabins. A grocery store, a bar & grill, cafe, and shops with outdoorsy clothing, sports equipment, souvenirs & gifts, and more. These shops and stores are right next to the pier and easy to get to.

A walk up the trail next to a beautiful waterfall was spectacular!
You can walk all the way up the steps alongside of the falls, I believe I was told it is about 400 steps? I walked up but I did not count them. However, taking my time and enjoying the beautiful view, made it much easier to go all the way to the top. If you are able to walk upstairs, I highly suggest you go even if you don't walk all the way up, the view is worth the effort!
